I am in complete shock, and wish I was exaggerating when I say this series is worth 2 stars. Of course we would never want to compare it exactly to the movie, however it’s hard not to compare the main role of Selena. With all respect to Christian (the actress playing Selena in the series) she just does not fill the shoes in any way when it comes to Selena. She makes the performances look unnatural and forced, to the point where I and several other who watched it with me were cringing. She lacked rhythm, energy, and I don’t believe it truly captures the bright Tejana woman Selena was. Furthermore, even though the acting was poor, it even upset me more that there wasn’t even some type of resemblance between the two. I don’t mean to sound so harsh, but when representing a legend, and a role model to many, the one given the opportunity to represent Selena should be exceptional. I understand this is a hard role to fill, and for that, I applaud Jennifer Lopez for the incredible and flawless work in the movie.
