I had been looking forward to seeing this and Aubrey Gordon makes her case for fat acceptance with great charm, wit and intelligence, and indeed great sartorial style (she has a spectacle WARDROBE fgs!). The scenes with her family, and her ultimate book launch triumph and feeling really ‘seen’ by them, perhaps for the first time, are very moving. The film maker is very disciplined about staying in the background and letting Aubrey tell her own story. It is also a great advert for Portland Oregon as a place to live or visit eg the help yourself libraries of books in the mailboxes to which Aubrey contributes several copies of hers. So has it made me stop wanting to be thinner? Well, no. But it reinforces the advice which I apparently memorably gave my cousin. ‘Life is too short to wait until you lose weight to do the things you want to do’.Loved it.
