The direction, actors and fashion are splendid in this movie. But the main problem is the story transition. The journey of estella embracing cruella is not smooth or believable. If we are considering a dual persona estella knows cruella and is least bothered about it. There is no inner conflict when she realises her mad side. Unlike the Joker it isnt believable...what Arthur went thru and how he became Joker is believable and heart wrenching...here it seems Estella doent care Cruella mistreats her friends...which is absurd...its like she willingly switched on Cruella. Another major drawback is the scene regarding her mothers death....the director was not able to capture the sense of sadness, grief and loneliness of that situation...it was almost displayed in a comical fashion how the dogs pushed her mother, her only kin. Dont know if this was made as a standout film with no connection to its predecessor movies but if it were it wud have been great if the movie showed how she turned into a villain ready to skin puppies when she herself has a precious dog of her own. This movie is fit for preteens and teens...as children wont appreciate the fashion or art in this movie. Not recommended for a serious watch...then again this is a Disney movie, meant for families. Certainly not a masterpiece but not bad either...comparing it to Mulan or other Disney live action remakes. If u want to thoroughly enjoy it...have no expectations at all. 6.5/10
