As far as Kdramas go, this is quite predictable. As an old-school kdrama viewer it was very easy for me to predict all the major plot "twists" or "shocking reveals". That being said, this drama is so refreshing in its sincerity. It is consistently what it is, and doesn't try to be something else (if that makes sense). Our main duo stay true to who they are and show realistic character development, I loved Kim Minjae's character Moo Hak so much! He's such a talented actor. It was so refreshing to see a unique male character who isn't this "ideal man" caricature that Kdramas always portray and bank on for female swooning. Moo Hak was such a delight to know and grow fond of.
I loved Park Gyu Young's character too! I've watched countless dramas but only few can actually pull off the innocent girl character and Dali was definitely one of the few. She is genuinely so likeable. Dali so ~soft~ , a stark contrast to the very hardcore and loud Moohak. The contrast between the leads and the way they interact and learn about each other is what makes this drama so intriguing. I also like how their chemistry was so natural since episode 1 itself. The development of their relationship was very natural, unlike most Kdramas.
However, this drama had so much more potential. I wish we'd gotten more screentime of the gamjatang cooks, Dali's Netherlands colleagues and her work there, more Wontak backstory, etc. It would've been better than all the wasted screentime on the whole construction fiasco and zoomed in shots of Moohak's brother's face.
Overall, a very sweet drama. I am excited to see what Kim Minjae does in the future considering how young he still is.
I hope Gyu Young also starts getting better roles because she can definitely pull them off. :) 7.5/10.
