This is absurdist fun for the awake and distressing to many others. I just got the joke about the ship's rigging, while reading others' puzzled reviews. It seems shallow and juvenile, and is that and much much more. It takes its sweet time getting there, then doesn't fix (a very complicated and troubling) problem, so that too will disappoint anyone looking for answers or light-hearted fun. I totally get that. Sitting longer than you'd prefer looking at yucky stuff. Isn't that what adults spend their lives reconciling, as compared to childhood? The heavy thames aside, the writing was brilliant in many places. Enough to keep me hooked, laughing, cringing, reflecting, and identifying with aspects of every character at some point in the film.
