Visited the Annex twice during my Grand European Tour in 1977. Highlight of my college travels. WWII history special to me since a HS teacher’s nudge but I now hesitate to tackle any more of the sad subject. Equivocated about watching the series. So glad I overcame the hesitation. It’s wrenching but wonderful. Wish my name was on the riveting script. Makes you pause and reflect on man’s perpetual inhumanity. I’ve always remembered Anne’s earnest belief that people are inherently good. Good place to start a discussion.

Signed up with BritBox this week to recommence Vera-viewing after a too-long hiatus. Halfway through Season 9 and am reminded again of the overarching theme of the eponymous character’s sole ability to discern, detect and deliver the murderer while her copious cadre of oft-chastened colleagues provides nuts-and-bolts assistance. Must be wearisome to be tasked with writing multiple uninspired characters and only one that’s perspicacious.
