Chang-You Lin

This is a very interesting drama. It makes you laugh and think about what could happen when the soul of a man in present day accidently entered the body of a queen-to-be 200 years ago. It is not simply a historical drama but an interesting fantasy. The excellent performance of actress Shin Hye-sun quides the viewers through this unbeleivable journey without feeling akward. While watching her, I can actually feel she is a women with a male sould, then gradually becomes a woman with a soul sometimes as a man and sometimes as a woman. Then, suddently, I cannot tell the soul is a man or a woman since they are merging!! I feel her struggles and pain. The most amazing scene is at the end when the soul of chef leaves and original female soul of the queen comes back and took over the control. It is like magic!!!! It makes me chill! They are completely different persons!! How could Shin Hye-Sun make that magic seemlessly. She deserves several best actress award. No doubt! Besides, with its well-written plot and fantastic directing, the excellent performance by its acting crew makes the whole series quite enjoyable and entertaining while it makes you think about the heavy weight of history in its background. As a forenigher, it gives me more motivation to understand Korean history and culture. Of course, I will not simply beleive everying in a fantasy drama since I know even some part of the historical knowledge in my education is merely fantasy to serve the will of authority and I beleive it happens everywhere. Anyway, I usually dislike historical drama because they are usually unfunny fantasy. However, this drama changes my mind, thanks to its exciting and interesting plot, and great peformance of the cast, especially Shin Hye-Sun's incredible acting skills and imagination.
