I can't think of a better book for reading while waiting out a quarantine! There is a great lesson in it about how to deal with a plague, how the government should handle such a situation. The Government of the city of London worked with The Church and Ruling Class to, for starters pay everyone's wages for the duration. In those days, it was a penny a day. So everyone in London got a penny a day so the food could be bought and all the rest.
