I've gotten several copies of this book for both friends and teachers. It is so well written and really speaks to that quiet child, the one who doesn't make waves or draw attention to himself but silently wishes someone, anyone, would see him as real... a real person with ideas and opinions and thoughts.
When reading it to my students I like to point out the differences in illustrations too. In some of the pictures there is color and in some he (the boy) is just gray, non descript, and as people speak to him, or notice him, color starts to be seen. It really is lovely and is a wonderful way to open up discussions.
