Where to start idk
*some spoiler may be ahead*
Honestly I’d give this movie a 1 star but I’m being generous today. I’m genuinely convinced that the 4-5 star reviews here were paid critics or something because my god this movie was bad. Forget the fact that’s it’s extremely difficult to make a great horror film these days but they didn’t even seem to try with this one. The plot seemed pointless at first but then at the end it was even more pointless. I mean I grew up watching the Halloween movies and Michael Myers is a villain who has always stood out as nerve wrecking and terrifying just based off his presence alone, but with this movie I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be a horror or an action/sci-fi film with some shallow acting sprinkled in.
I mean the cliches of characters making dumb decisions (that never work) to survive or stopping to talk for no reason is annoying as always for sure, or maybe even the facts that they introduce the gay couple and the black couple early on just to kill them off immediately; especially when everyone just ended up dying anyway, but the fact that this man Mike Myers has somehow leveled up past 9000 with some sort of super speed where he walks at the same speed everyone else runs.
I’m convinced even more Super strength was gained though not verbally said. Invincibility—CHECK cause bullets, knives, bars, pipes etc just didn’t work. Teleportation? Well apparently so cause how else did he get back to his house in time to kill Karen right after taking a what seemed like a brutal beating but later turned out to be just a minor scratch. Might as well add invisibility while we’re at it cause NO ONE saw this guy go in the house??
Look, I get that it’s just a movie but Michael Myers and the Halloween movies always made everything feel realistic like this type of person could be out there. You didn’t need to say his name 5 times, or go to sleep or hell you didn’t even have to call friend screaming “WAZZZZZUP”. He was just a peak conditioned psycho murderer. Like if Batman just decided to switch things up.
Aside from that, I hope the new Candyman doesn’t end up like this movie
If I had to say something good about this movie then we’ll I’d say at least I didn’t have to pay to see it…..oh and the Michael Myers theme song is always nostalgic.
