Marvel Comic book fans vs MCU fans will like the film because most of the elements comics are in the film. Marvel actually did better with Captain Marvel than with Black Panther in not giving away too much in the trailer (and I'm a Black guy who collected comics). The 90s nostalgia moments are funny (Blockbuster, Alta Vista use, Internet cafe, using a CD to load data, payphones, pagers, and Radio Shack) the flerken is a hoot, and Brie Larson demonstrates how versatile and complicated a character she can be. She's witty, sarcastic, and stoic, not wooden. There is a difference. There are plot twists, moments that will make the Marvel initiated and Marvel newcomer laugh out loud (although this will be a different points). Newcomers get introduced to a complex origin story and 80s Marvel Comic readers get a glimpse of Monica Rambeau.
The end is superhero cheesey, but this like the rest of the MCU are fictional superheros that follow a basic troupe. Casting Annette Bening as Mar Vell and how Fury looses his eye are my only major issues. She and the other Avengers will crush Thanos in End Game, but she probably will not show up until the last 1/2 of End Game.
