This is a great movie filmed at Ft. Fisher, NC at the Ft. Fisher Air Force Base in what it was like. I'm the historian / volunteer there telling about the filming and what it was like in 1943. The officer's Club is there known as the Beach House and you can visit it on Saturday - Sunday, 8 am - 2 pm and I tell you about the movie. Some of the film was filmed in Kure Beach, just up the street. Shelly Winters was the only one to become famous and was her 1st movie. Some of the buildings are still up.
