Apaharan: Sab Ka Katega
An intriguing modern masala entertainer that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The first and foremost thing that needs be talked about this show is it's top-notch performances:-
Arunoday Singh is brilliant at what he does and his breath-taking performance truely moves you. His expressions, body language and most importantly, a perfect Bihari accent, reflect the emotions of a man caught in deep s**t very well. He draws you into the tale and makes you experience the painstaking difficulty Rudra faces.
Monica Chaudhary as Anusha Tyagi looks super-convincing. She forces you to experience her emotional turmoil as she goes through all this. Her delightful "Nai Jaana" only adds to her brilliance.
Varun Badola is the surprise treat. It's a great pleasure to view his superb effortless acting.
Nidhi Singh, Saanand Verma and Sanjay Batra deliver decent performances.
Mahie Gill is a dissapointment, though. She tries too hard to be seductive, and ends up doing nothing more than just that.
The background score keeps you hooked. The direction by Siddharth Sengupta is quite old-school, yet compelling. And the dialogues are too good. Kudos to the writting team for that:-
Varun Badola, Umesh Padalkar, Siddharth Sengupta and Mohinder Pratap Singh have accomplished what many reputed screenwriters can't: the art of suspense. The plot is predictable, the screenplay isn't. The show keeps you guessing till the very end, and each episode ends with a wonderful cliff-hanger. One might initially feel that there are way too many '70s Bollywood references, but it only intensifies the credibility of the show as a whole.

The downside: The ending of the show is what ruins it's entire beauty. Though, the end is written averagely, the treatment (a.k.a direction) is disastrous. The dialogues are too cheezy and the whole set-up just doesn't feel right in the climax. I've never appretiated an entire show and felt that the climax was the only error, before I watched Apaharan. The last scenes, however, are well made.
