The game has two modes; the erroneously entitled Campaign Mode which should just be called Story Mode, and Raid Mode.
Campaign Mode, or more properly story mode, is average. Combat and puzzle solving are not the best, but nor are they the worst. They are just average. Graphics are slightly outdated, but not enough to make them bad. It's just an average game.
So why four stars then? Two words. Raid Mode.
Raid Mode, which actually should be called campaign mode, is a separate mini-game that consists of more than fifty short but challenging, score based campaigns. Weapons, skills, and skin upgrades are unlocked by using points earned from completing challenges. There aren't a ton of upgrades, but there are enough to keep players entertained for at least thirty to forty hours. Raid Mode feels like it is what RE games have been missing. It is a welcomed addition, and I had far more fun playing Raid Mode than I did playing through the main story. In addition, Raid Mode also features an optional two player and online mode, although I had plenty enough fun going at it as single player.
