NO I DID NOT LIKE THIS FILM. IT FRUSTRATED ME. THE AMOUNT OF POTENTIAL THAT WAS SET UP DURING THE FIRST 1.45HR WAS BRILLIANT, AND I WAS WILLING TO FORGIVE THE SLOW PACE (sorry ill stop the caps), as long as the end section put all the puzzle pieces together and blew my mind. But alas. It set up all of these significant elements and then neglected them. There wasn't even a music score, it was silent throughout. What sort of director doesn't include a music score? A tacky one. And the pathetic fallacy was the sort of thing one would see in an amateur film. The colour palette was depressing and dark, and yes might have slighlty added to the eery effect, but it was just tacky! The acting from hugh jackman and jake gyllenhaal was brilliant, so applause to them. Why did they just set clues up, then neglect them, thats my question.

this is a beautiful film. it is not a tacky fantasy or romance- it is so much more. it puts into perspective the beauty but also mortality of human life. the strength of death the character at the end was admirable and the guy at the coffee shop was such a brilliant human, and the final part of that scene reveals what assets everyone is to this world. the film taught me so much i loved it. ( side note: the sexiest i have ever seen brad pitt aswell)

you only realise what you have when you lose it i guess. ennis is the most fustrating character, he could have been portrayed as what people want to see but instead he was portrayed as a truthful, raw character. it took me time but after my fustration passed, i understood. beautfiully raw movie

i cried non stop, officially the most i have in any film ever. what hit and hurt so hard was watching the relationship between the father and son fracture. the dad is trying to cling onto their special connection and journey so desperately and the drugs are like this demon which has ripping them apart and killing nic. the usage of gradual flashblacks instead of a beginning to end story is far more powerful as you are reminded at the worst of times the love and affection and beauty of their relationship before. the scene that absolutely broke me was the scene when young nic is leaving for LA and david says ; all the words in the dictionary cannot desribe how much i love you. also when nic sees the article; where is my beautiful boy. i miss him. god im crying just writing this. i think the film is so relatable as, despite the heart being drugs, the situation can occur in so many parent child relationships in general for many reasons. i am gonna be loving my parents a lot more nowbecause david is right; they love us more than anything dont they?
