Real review:
So far I’m only on the second episode so this review may change as I finish up the season. But this is the most sincere review I could give.
As far as atmosphere and environment: an absolute 10/10. They nailed everything the vault world has, even the ambience. Not to mention the audio queues as well. Very very impressive.
Where the show starts to dip is where its potential lies but isn’t fulfilled. With 7/10 acting and some corny jokes filled in between and some very generic writing for a series that has always had beyond interesting details in their game line stories. For example the beginning with the vault. I’m not going to spoil anything but they could’ve done a lot better for that first episode.
Now where the show is brought back is with this intrinsic idea of having 3 main characters as the basis of the show’s storyline. That is an epic idea. It’s executed very well and overall the show is a solid 7/10 between 5/10 6/10 and 7/10. I just feel like something this great has SO MUCH MORE POTENTIAL. Just as the games have. Basing the ghoul’s personality around how we felt when playing as the courier was another good decision.
If you know fallout, you know how fascinating and freaky the vault stories are and how every game you play it’s always the same, your vault is either one of the least touched or untouched vaults. So for them to do this same thing once again is just disappointing, not to mention what does happen in the first episode feels dull on the writing part.
Overall though, it seems other people loved this show since most reviews are 5/5 so maybe my mind will change once I’m finished with the season. But so far this show doesn’t seem anything amazing beyond its multi-million dollar budget on all the environmental stuff.
And for a last notice, good unknown actors are not hard to find. I understand the budget for good actors comes by at a price. But if you find people passionate in fallout, I’m sure they’ll be able to find good solid actors for this show.
