Two things about this. I’m really impressed with this film, and I have it hard to believe it was in 1967. In such a time of bitter racial tension, the director of this critical film decide to release it. I can’t comprehend his courage. I especially loved the interchange of dialogue between individual characters—father and son, father and daughter, and so on. It highlighted the personality and character of each through dialogues and arguments. A very important and critical film on race issues/dialogue.

It appears that the majority of the negative reviews have not fully understood the nuance of this miniseries. To better grasp the show's hype, one has to look at it through the lens of our current political situation and project it through a battle stance of the privileged class. Essentially, class is a theme of the show, but the heart of it all is the other themes, such as self-realization reflected in each character. The nuance is at the heart of each character's problems and struggle. Everyone has their personal shortage somewhat, and the journey of each perspective is entertainment in its own right, be it that the character is experiencing interpersonal or personal doubts. However, that is not the only limitation.
