It's hard for me to write such a review on what should've been the the triumph of 2021. Short background: this review is compared to each of the other Matrix movies For comparation: Matrix 1: rating 5/5 not because of it's effects but because the movie was ahead of it's time by like 20+ years!!! Matrix 2: rating 5/5 It was only then that I really started understanding the depth of the story behind everything and it was really amazing that they took it to a whole new level Matrix 3: rating 5/5 Such a great end for this amazing trilogy, no words. Matrix 4: rating 1/5: SPOILERS ALERT for Matrix 4: I really loved small "gestures" like when Neo keeps taking the blue pills on therapy, and the basic background on the beginning was quite nice. Yeah, it was quite funny that they took Trinity and called her Tiffany etc.. From there, it really started looking like nothing more than taking what was good on other Matrix movies, and playing one scene at a time as if I was watching YouTube or something.. I really expected this movie to stand on its own and it didn't even look like it had a real story comparing to the other Matrix movies. Taking the budget into account: Matrix 1: 63M USD - Can't believe what they've managed to do this with this budget Matrix 2+3: 150M USD - Can't believe what they've managed to do this with this budget Matrix 4: 190M USD - Where did all the money go ??? To sum things up in one line: I got Dave Chappelle rather than getting Morpheus. (Keanu and Carrie-Anne were awesome as always though)
