De de Pyaar de
Let me open with a Javed Jaffery dialogue in the movie " Ek ameer buddha aur jawaan ladki mili. Ladki ko paisa dikha, Buddhe ko jawani dikhi."
Ashish Mehra (Ajay Devgn),50, meets Ayesha (Rakul Preet), 26, at his friend's bachelor party(apparently his friends are almost half his age) where she shows up as a stripper trying to seduce the groom to be. After almost breaking the marriage and showcasing that the groom has an erection problem, she gets drunk and passes out at his house. The next morning realising she spent the night at his place she assumes to have a drunken mistake with him. At confrontation, she realises he is not interested in him which hurts her ego just like Poo in K3G. She throws her self at him on various instances and the end up living together.
Then comes the Richard & Monica phase where she wants commitment and Richard..I mean Ashish thinks he is too old for it. They break up. Sad song. But she can't live without him, so patch up. I mean ladki ki koi izzat hai hi nahi.
They travel to India to meet his wife and kids on surprise accidentally a day before his daughter, Ishika's boyfiend and his father comes home with an alliance. And also Ishaan, Ashish's son falls in love with Ayesha. Now, there is an anticipation that there might be some humor which is truly just a noun in the movie, but noooo...Prolonged scenarios and unwanted drama. You don't feel empathetic towards any of the characters in the movie, be it Tabu, Ajay or Rakul or any other who should deserve it.
The movie promotes polygamy, matlab, Ashish is separated from his wife Manju(Tabu) for 18 years but never got divorce and now he has a girlfriend too. I mean, we are not judging him for a girl friend, but being a smart investor in SME's in London, he din't think of a simple matter such as divorce.
The story line was fit for a RomCom, but the Luv Ranjan, Surbi Bhatnagar & Tarun Jain has not managed to captivate the audience. The screenplay is weak and the dialogues do not make any sense at all.
The songs in the movie are good, especially the party numbers, Vaddi Sharaban and Hauli Hauli. The cinematographer has done a fine job with scenes but no extra effort was seen in capturing the locations through out the movie.
Even if you are a Ajay Devgn or Tabu fan, we do not recommend you time and money for the theater.
All in all the movie gets ⭐️1/2 stars for...well...the effort.
