I read Timeless Soldier out of the sequence of LTC Cenneys' four book series. No problem! I was able to follow it all! LTC Cenney writes with clear simplicity, yet depth of soul. This is the first book I've read in which the Preface not only sets the stage, but direct quotes from the Preface appear later in the content of the text. It tied the book together nicely, but more than that, it tied the book into the emotions and soul of the author. I feel like I know Bernard Cenney personally, from this book of fiction! I also particularly like the fact that he provides explanations for historical content, words, and concepts that I may be unfamiliar with (and even if I thought I knew what they were -- he added information I did not know!). This makes the work of fiction, also provide me with a bit of learning (and I like to learn!). I read this book in a single day - all the way through. I enjoyed the glimpse into the military and the mystical in a single volume. I can see this book as a movie. Let's hope someone discovers the book and makes that happen!
