Big issue is in the games combat and game modes.
I’m going to put it plainly. The combat is not difficult. You have three different attacks that you can use. The problem is the common strat is to swing and instantly block afterwards or you could wait and counter a move— this sounds fine am I’m oversimplifying but most combat becomes a tedious go around of who has more stamina or who do the hit-box gods favor. Even throwing in alternative swings is a dangerous gamble at time because of the benefit that counter attack gives you and more narrow attacks like stab and overhand can easily miss unless your sensitivity is really high which then you could simply do a 180 when you miss and you’ll most likely hit your target.
All of this about the combat is to say that you were fortunate enough to duel someone (one person alone) perhaps a torturous part of this combat system is the overwhelming amount of ganking there is. I guarantee in the three game modes that are in the game you will have been grouped up on more than you can count. The simple combat attempts to account for grouping up but that fails entirely to support the player. You option are to: hope your team will save you, perfectly block attacks while preserving stamina, or dodge and keep good distance— all while the enemy spams all assortments of attacks so that either your stamina goes down from blocking or that when you counter attack you’ll still be hit by an attack you couldn’t counter.
I’m tired of ranting. Players that have played the game will understand what I’m saying. The is very little skill in the combat— it’s tedious, repetitive, and clunky. Couple that with ganking and exploiters who find ways to make they’re swings far faster than their weapons allow or landing attacks through blocks, the game is unfun. I loved tornbanners games— glitches and all, but chivalry 2 has very little redeeming qualities and very little content.
Either wait till torn banner fixes their game where it’s actually fun to play more than 6hrs or avoid its toxic community with a 12 foot poll.
