The book is very insightful and rich in even some of the smaller details that ultimately culminated in the most serious ‘ political ‘ event in several hundred years! That it’s probably the only book fully describing events is quite astonishing ( I’ve no doubt there’s random hagiographies that allude to Thatcher ‘ s attempted assassination). Rory Carroll manages to successfully detail everyone - the Gothic backdrop ( even the Grand Hotel seems quasi - Gothic ) to events almost akin to a pacy thriller/ drama but never loses sight of the severity of the outcomes. A sure fire sign is if I love it is that I’ll re - read in say a year or two!!

Has to be the most disappointing movie I’ve watched in a long time. There was a lot of stereotypes & some of it was bordering on a sort of slur. The whole thing seemed cliched and sort of laboured. Ray Liotta was poor and again he seemed as if he was over- doing the Mafiosa characterisation to the point of parody. Alessandro Nivola was ok as Dickie in one of the lead roles. I can’t believe it’s from the same pen as The Sooranos it was so sub - par. It’s probably one of the reasons you should leave a good story where it is. It’s possibly a quirk I have but Christopher Montisanti ( Michael Imperioli ) was my least believable character and least favourite actor in all the Seasons of The Sopranos. Better Call Saul is the most superior way to prequel any iconic Box Set anyway not a lame movie. A waste of £18.90!!! Everyman cinema Hampstead was a rip off.
