The book is very insightful and rich in even some of the smaller details that ultimately culminated in the most serious ‘ political ‘ event in several hundred years!
That it’s probably the only book fully describing events is quite astonishing ( I’ve no doubt there’s random hagiographies that allude to Thatcher ‘ s attempted assassination).
Rory Carroll manages to successfully detail everyone - the Gothic backdrop ( even the Grand Hotel seems quasi - Gothic ) to events almost akin to a pacy thriller/ drama but never loses sight of the severity of the outcomes.
A sure fire sign is if I love it is that I’ll re - read in say a year or two!!
