I've enjoyed every star trek series ever made; all of them, except this one. Discovery is awful. The timeline makes no sense st all. The spore drive is the most ridiculous concept; at least the warp drive had some scientific theory behind it. The spore drive is just utterly ridiculous. The spore drive alone was enough for me to switch off and never watch again. Add to that the superficiality of every character! I hate Netflix for helping to fund this utter drivel. I'd cancel my netflix subscription if it weren't for the fact they offer the other star trek series.
Discovery is not star trek. All the other shows, all 5 of them, were star trek. They all had that star trek authenticity to them. I could tolerate discovery for lacking that authenticity, but it lacks everything. It lacks credibility. Written by some imbecile who thinks that scientific plausibility goes undesired among the star trek faithful! Hell, most of us loved that show so much that we became scientists. Spore drive!?!?@ Are we really going to fold time and space with a blue cheese sandwich. It would work for red dwarf. It doesn't work for star trek, not for me. Instantaneously traversing 1000's of light years on mushroom power? Antimatter, far more powerful than fungal byproducts, could only achieve warp 9.9. That was many years in the future. Yet lo and behold, in the distant past they were harnessing the power of mushrooms, and that simple biomatter was far more powerful than antimatter, for it could transport you instantaneously to anywhere. Hell why didn't they use mushrooms in DS9 or voyage? Ok, voyager wouldn't have worked, cos with mushrooms they could have gotten home in an instant. Yet it begs the question amongst all those planets that voyager visited, did they not have a single mushroom?
