True Terra

This review goes solely for the first movie, as I haven't seen the others for fear of ruining one of my favorite movies of all time. The setting and mood for the film is set up and developed beautifully. The way the director introduces the audience to the characters is wonderfully unique. The whole idea of "found footage" has always seemed to crash and burn in execution (my opinion), yet Blair Witch brings a whole new kind of horror. The acting is wonderful, and the camera work leaves you anxious in an attempt to discern what's happening. The film envelops you into the world of the Blair Witch, and when the movie is over you are left feeling unsettled yet satisfied.

I just finished this show over winter break. Started it with my mom, brother, and his girlfriend, and it took us two days to watch the entire thing. Reading other reviews I'm seeing a lot of people say the first episodes felt slow. I really disagree with this, because while there are not many shocking or important events that transpire, you can feel the plot is building and developing to support the rest of the story. The acting and writing is stunning, and the dialogue between characters keeps you engaged and curious. I have to say, at no time during this show did I have any idea what was going to happen next. The brutality of certain scenes is not only worth the complexity of the plot, but is necessary to force you to face the truth of the character's environment. This show is unbelievable and will leave you stunned and hungry for more.

Beautiful Boy is a gorgeous movie. The acting, directing, and soundtrack are all refined to perfection. Timothee Chalamet has out done himself, I shouldn't be surprised after CMBYN and Hot Summer Nights. Steve Carell gives voice to countless parents who's children are addicts. The energy he brings to the film entices you, winding you through the intricate complexity of this story. You can tell this story is based off a family's real experience. The script contains lines all to recognizable for people who have gone through this. The graphic drug use is pretty scary to watch so stay cautious. If you know what addiction is like, this film will speak to you.
