As an autistic man, this movie, and Sia's entire attitude in dealing with the community is offensive and dangerous. It mocks us and presents a neurotypical *idea* of autism and not autism itself. The fact that she partnered with Autism Speaks, which is a group trying to "cure" us and has even supported parents who tried to or DID kill their autistic child is even more horrifying. DO NOT see this movie, Sia does NOT deserve the money or attention. She has been blatantly disrespectful to us both with this movie and in her interactions with autistic people when they have brought valid criticisms. She promised she would add a warning and remove the restraint scenes (which are traumatizing, not helpful and has even lead to deaths of the people being restrained) and she did not. Her intentions do not matter here, as the end result is nothing but harmful.
