It was an average movie at best. The director played it painfully safe and her maximum efforts are seen in trying to be politically correct and not criticizing Pakistan. Which is an idiotic thing to do for a supposedly patriotic movie. And when I see the reviews here that say that they liked the movie because it didn't portray Pakistan as bad, I can't help but feel sad about how much of cancerous liberal values exist amongst Indians(yes I am a right wing person). The director never for once showed the ugly truth of the terrorism funder called Pakistan. Rather I believe she very subtly wanted us to feel bad for Pakistanis in the end . A very cute effort by a liberal lady director. It is that pseudo liberal movie criticizing war instead of Pakistan. I have no problem if she wanted to take that route but she also did not succeed in making us feel deeply about how war ruins human relationship. The death of her husband was such a passable moment. Alia bhatt reduced to crying and some more crying. No character buildup or even plot buildup. An empty ride.
