A lot of the writing is repetive. Pages spent on mundane details. The main character is a victim of her circumstances but never develops or changes from her stereotypical course. She throws her abusive husband through the door in the end but I didn't feel she got much redemption. Only after I read this novel that I picked up in a second hand book store, did I discover there is a part 2. Unfortunately, the writing style of this 1st book and lack of character development, makes me uninterested in Paula Spencer's future.
