Quite possibly the silliest script ever put to production. Once again an interesting premise destroyed by a room full of 13 year old girls trying their hand at writing an adult drama. We watched to the end just see how absurd it would get, with each successive episode filled with more and more unintended laughs. Just how many beatings and gun wounds can a tiny woman take before a producer asks what are we filming here? A gritty drama, or an episode of Wonder Woman?

Initially an intriguing idea, but it gets weighed down with an ever increasing and unstable load of sci-fi flannel. There are some truly impressive moments but the two girl-boss characters very quickly become tedious and make the overall experience less enjoyable. Why do so many 'strong female characters' have to be unlikeable, preachy, rude and unreliable? Who is writing these characters? Do they like women? Have they met any? And why do actresses line up to portray them? Also, if the aliens are able to communicate directly with us now, and can disrupt communications and can force humans to see and do whatever they want, why wait for 400 years? Just destroy all humanity right now and arrive 400 years later to a pristine planet filled with wildlife and vegetation. Unlikely I will bother with the next season if it happens.

Very silly and very poorly written. Some of the ‘surprise’ plot twists are laugh out loud awful. (Phew, they didn’t commit incest. Turns out she’s not your half sister after all! Oh no, the much younger man I just slept with - because my Mum reckons I need to get laid - turns out to be the groom at the wedding I am catering.) It’s like several groups of high school drama students jammed all of their separate and hastily written scripts together and presented it as one show. Worth a laugh with some wine and something else to do at the same time.

Just saw it again for the first time since its release. Still has some good moments but all in all, disappointing, particularly the end, where it just got silly. Very difficult to feel positive about a man who just up and abandons his wife and kids. And the childlike aliens with long spikey fingers; how do they get anything done with such awkward hands. The tall, thin, puppet like large alien. Appeared and then went back inside. What was the point of that? And at what point did they establish sufficient communication with the aliens to decide to send a squadron of people in sunglasses and red suits off to who knows where and for how long? And the bloke that bumped into Neary rushing to the portaloo. Puleeze.

I have managed ten minutes of episode one. Just awful, in so many ways. Bad and awkward dialogue and acting. Jamming in as many of the current woke tropes as possible: “Give them their land back.” The writers were clearly upset that they couldn’t have the multi-culti kid just say “Vote yes in the upcoming referendum.” At one point I thought they were aiming for some sort of comedy. Then I thought no, as it’s not funny. Turns out they were trying for some sort of ‘dark comedy’. Andrew Knight has scripted some good stuff in the past, but not this time.

A master class in overacting and histrionics. Almost every exchange involves shouting, screaming and swearing with absurd dialogue and bloated scenes that do nothing to progress the story. Season 1 was almost bearable because of the intriguing set up. Season 2 has just become ridiculous. I am at episode 5 and all of the new information would fit in a tightly scripted half hour. And of course we have the obligatory lesbian relationship that chews up large portions of each episode without adding anything to the story. Morbidly fascinating.
