I have high praise for this as a game, but feel it is not a part of the main series.
This title gave me the feeling of a sidequest that you just need to finish to 100% a game. You're an overpowered deity tasked with the mundane chore of eliminating the village rat problem. And there's only 3 rats.
Music: Fantastic. The soundtrack for this game is the best in the series, hands down.
Graphics: Backgrounds should be better for a AAA title this far into a series, especially considering the better hardware. Animations were to an acceptable quality.
Story: About what you'd expect from a Pokemon game, but shorter. Characters were memorable. The "Team" villain formula was shaken up and was refreshing.
Content: QOL improvements were nice, but undermine the survival and adventure "feel" of the previous titles. Lacking more than half of the critters.
Difficulty: Undefeated by any NPC, way too easy.
Fun: 50 hours in says yes, it is a very fun game despite my opinions.
Definitely a good time, but as a Pokemon collector and veteran, this game is rather disappointing. It feels like "Baby's Second Pokemon" (Let's Go being "Baby's First"). The Dynamaxing gimmick felt like a halfhearted attempt to give everyone a Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, but lacked the luster of those previous mechanics.
Camping is a fully realized form of the previous Pokemon interaction ideas, and was rather enjoyable. The addition of the Currydex, however, felt like a sidequest within a game that already feels like a sidequest.
The Wild Area was cool, I'm neither here nor there about it.
Obligatory "please put the rest of the Pokemon into the game", as I have beloved traveling companions of 20 years I would like to play with.
