Eh, The story was fine, but Spinel as a character straight out of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” ruined it for me.
This show has always been very consistent in its framework of what the characters are made of/ what they look like / can do, etc. I can suspend disbelief for any creative universe, but it has to be consistent. A brand new character with a gem “heart” like the others, but made of silly putty with Woody Woodpecker’s personality dropped on us in the 11th hour of the series finale? Um, no.
I love how the show always pushed limits, but this was a bridge too far, and in a needlessly foolish slapstick direction, no less. You blew it, Sugar. Bigtime. Sadly. Thanks for five great seasons, though.
