Let me start by saying, if you’re very nitpicky when it comes to realism or how realistic the movie is, then you won’t like it. This is a movie you can watch for the humor or how light hearted it is. I enjoyed the plot twist, and I thought it was a very cute romantic action based movie. Don’t get me wrong, it was light hearted, but also pretty violent, so be ready for that lol. If you don’t mind the violence then it’s pretty funny. Not gruesome, just a lot of a violence and a bit of blood. I went with a group of friends and my boyfriend, who assumed it’d be a chick flick. We left feeling very happy, we enjoyed the movie and my boyfriend said it exceeded his expectations.

No spoiler rating: I have to say, this is quite possibly the worst Halloween movie after Halloween 6. This thing is sloppy and rushed and Jamie Lee Curtis was right, as a Halloween fan, I am utterly disappointed with this conclusion to beloved characters. I quite enjoyed the last two movies, so I was left in utter shock and disbelief when I was greeted with this dumpster fire of a movie. I disliked it so much, I think I’ll pretend it doesn’t exist. Rating WITH SPOILERS: Where to begin?? For a man who seems to be fueled by evil, which is currently flooding Haddenfield, geez is Michael Myers utterly weak. I get it, he’s an older man, but I thought the point of him was that he WASN’T an ordinary man. He can take out a group of firemen but can’t take out a friggin teenager who damn near jumped him??? And the old apprentice type thing they had going on, I heavily disliked, and then when I was staring to hate it just a little less they ruined it. I don’t know where or how they thought this would be a great conclusion to a character like Michael Myers. Very anti climatic, and the romance between Allison and Corey was rushed and senseless. Even after her devastation after losing him, five minutes later she’s like, “lol okay.” An extremely rushed, plot holed, anticlimactic movie. I’ve seen past the flaws of the previous movie but I just can’t look past these. The battle at the end just didn’t make sense, he can get up at the end of Halloween Kills after being battered and beaten but can’t take a few knife wounds? Honestly, I recommend you just save your money.

Now, I'm a major Halloween fan and I've been anticipating this movie since freshmen year which was about four years ago. I can honestly say I loved the movie. Yes, things have changed but that it literally the point to a reboot in the first place, things were meant to change. Don't watch this movie expecting a clear motive to Michael's actions when John Carpenter has stated multiple times he did not want him to have one, evil typically does not have one. I have watched every single Halloween movie, The season of the witch included. Trust me, if you are a hardcore Halloween fan as well you can enjoy this. However if you come to the movie with hopes it'll be 100% like the original you will be disappointed, but you kinda deserve to be so if you're honestly expecting that, like it hasn't been 40 years. ANYWAYS, I really enjoyed this movie. Michael is back and is as brutal as ever without the over kill. I find it very hard to make a slasher film scary this days however during the whole entire movie I felt like I was on a roller coaster that just wouldn't go down, my fear came from anxiety and reminded me why I loved horror movies. I was afraid John Carpenters new score would take up the entire movie however I was pleasantly surprised that both music scores were present and the original even more so if not a combination. There was also the introduction of comedic relief which I completely did not expect but am not complaining. This movie perfectly combined a classic slasher film with today's modern horror, something I can definitely appreciate. If you're a hardcore fan like me you will also appreciate the many references to many different Halloween movies, not just the original. While this movie did have its flaws, like every movie does, it was very enjoyable and I was not disappointed.
