I found this on Netflix and watched it, not expecting too much and some of the scenes I thought were kind of boring (like the roommate scene, and the scenes with Charlie's friends and honestly, even the old woman and Barlow's mom...I just wasn't emotionally invested in anyone besides Zander, Barlow and Charlie), and some of the movie was slightly cheesy with some cringy dialogue and over-kill BUT there was some serious mind-blowing stuff going on!! The slow dance between Zander and Barlow while Charlie plays and the final scene were something of STRAIGHT MAGIC. I have watched the ending maybe twenty times now, just blown away by the emotion and the editing and the music and the visuals, and the way that it is perfectly in sync to make a fricking masterpiece! I LOVE that the whole final production was just Charlie's music in the flesh and that he was actually a main character even though he wasn't even dancing. The actors were so handsome/beautiful and whoever cast these people did a PERFECT job, especially with Barlow, who danced amazingly! Also, the actor that played Charlie played his own piano which is SERIOUSLY INCREDIBLE!!! If I had made this movie I would have toned down the "extra" characters and focused more on the developing romance between Charlie and Barlow but seriously, there was some truly great stuff going on here and even though there were some less desirable parts, the better parts overshadow those and this move gets logged away as "historical" in my book!
