Too dark in its overall atmosphere. Anne has lost her bright, cheerful and optimistic personality. A lot of newly invented episodes and devices including ever-so-frequent flashbacks contribute to darkening the mood. I personally found the homosexual elements scattered among so many relationships which was non-existent in the original story surprising and overpowering. This particular rendition is far from the original story's pure, light and warm beauty and charm.
