This was about as close to a Pixar movie feeling as it gets, at least for me. The pacing was great and the characters all had charm, which kept me engaged. I’m not very familiar with Dragon Quest V, but I did know bits and pieces to the plot and seeing it play out before me was a treat. You don’t need to be a gamer to enjoy this one, and you definitely don’t need to be familiar with Dragon Quest if you are. The thoughtful storytelling is a massive strong point that will keep you in your seat and sometimes get you out of it to cheer the main protagonists on. I’ve already been telling my friends to see it and quite honestly, you should too. I haven’t experienced a movie in a long time where as soon as it ended, I wanted to watch it again. Give this a shot!
