This book was the gasoline that helped ignite the Civil War. It is truly a must read for so many reasons but you have to stick with it. It takes about 100 pages for things to kick in.

This is a good book but it takes patience. It doesn't hit you over the head until you make a commitment to read it. Then, the story opens up. I read it as a child. I remember my Mom pushing me to stick with it. Glad I did. I think reading these old books are a great way for people to get a feeling for the thinking of the people of yore.
