I am a true crime buff and usually have thick skin, but after watching this story of the amount of abuse and torture this beautiful baby boy went thru brings me to tears and outraged all at the same time. This documentary brings to light a broken child protection system while focusing on Gabriel as well and how he could've been saved on numerous occasions. While I agree with the message it portrays, I feel it should be focused more on the parents and how it led to this outcome. It mentions the parents history briefly, but abused grow up to be abusers and/or people are born with mental disorders that go untreated due to poverty, lack of access to quality healthcare and health insurance.
I googled child abuse murders and there are 5 children dead within the past two weeks due to child abuse and all families are in poverty and low income neighborhoods. This is a pandemic, its greater than a broken system, its starts with the individual's themselves. There needs to be more funding and access to quality education and healthcare for all.
May you RIP Gabriel and you will never be forgotten.
