I'm not really a good reviewer but this review is just only in my opinion. So I would honestly give this game only 4 Stars. Why? I'll get to that later. Now? I'll explain each stars I'll be giving to this incredible game that I have been playing 12 times!
1st Star is for the Story of the game. Ghost of Tsushima is based on a true event during the Kamakura Period of Feudal Japan in 1274. Now the story isn't that accurate on what happened during that year but there are some that are Historically Accurate places in the game. Now this game is just pure fiction and is only inspired on Samurai Cinema in Japan, notably Akira Kurosawa films like "Seven Samurai" and "Ran". It feels like you are watch a movie which makes it a awesome story.
2nd Star is for the Characters in the game. None of these characters in the game exist in real life but are only pure fiction. But the characters in the game are all great. I love them. Their present, past stories and struggles are really interesting during gameplay. So I don't have any explanations in this but all I could say is the Characters are great including the actors who portrayed them.
3rd Star is for Gameplay. The gameplay is incredible! The combat is excellent. I know there is no "Lock-On" in this game but I don't really mind it. I got used it when I'm playing this game in my first try. You can also play your flute anytime in the game like when you're just standing idle, walking or riding on your horse. And you can bow to Monuments and dead bodies (civilians, samurai, bandits, Mongols and Ronin) to show respect but you can choose not to do it. It doesn't really require you to that during gameplay but it makes the experience fun when bowing. Main Missions are great. Side Missions are good for killing time when playing. And my favorite of all are the Mythic Tales of Tsushima. These missions has very interesting stories and very challenging if your playing first time. The difficulty are good at first but when the updates came and Lethal Mode was released? Man! It's the most challenging difficulty that I have ever faced and I loved it!
4th Star is for Sounds and Music. The sounds in this game are awesome. It feels you are really in Feudal Japan during the Kamakura Period. And Music? It's also the same with sounds. It's excellent and good to listen. I don't really have anything to say but the sound and music in this game is really awesome!
Now? Why I didn't give this game a 5th Star? Here's why. The game is scripted. I was disappointed that this game doesn't have what Infamous had and that was choosing what path you should take, Samurai or Ghost. Infamous had a Karma System, Good, Neutral and Evil. I just wished that Ghost of Tsushima had this system to choose what path you should take because my entire gameplay was me following the path of a Samurai not The Ghost. I know there parts of the game that requires you to do stealth but I mostly did in those part is to face the enemy head-on just like what a Samurai Warrior would do. If they are about to execute a prisoner I would go there and to protect that prisoner head-on. I never used any throwing objects except for my Short Bow and Long Bow. And I only use the grappling hook just to go to places that needed it.
So that's all I could say in my review. This is just only my opinion. I loved the game. I beat the game 12 times already, 2 of those are on Lethal Difficulty. I would give it 5 Stars but I can't. It's just the game itself wouldn't let you choose what path you want to take so that's why I give this game only 4 Stars.
Thank you!
