I was disappointed with The Force Awakens, I thought Last Jedi was insultingly bad, so I walked into the theater ready for this one to be bad too. The first third or so of the movie I thought my fears were realized. However, the movie gets better...and it's actually pretty good. One of the best things I can say about Rise of Skywalker is that it makes me sad, wondering what could have been if the Last Jedi hadn't been completely botched. I feel like, aside from a few random weird choices that didn't make sense, JJ Abrams made the best movie he could given the way the story was left. It's definitely not perfect, and the old Star Wars magic only shines through some of it, but it's a lot better than I expected and I recommend seeing it.
