I was actually excited to see this movie, and I’ve seen all the other Saw movies and I feel that they lack more and more as they go on.
I wasn't expecting Spiral to be amazing or make me go, “woah that’s crazy!” Y’know? And the movie really wasn’t “amazing”, but I was still pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
I think it was able to do what Jigsaw couldn’t, and that was to give a new refreshing start to the franchise again. (This movie is definitely better than Jigsaw to me) The plot was fine, but with close attention you could probably figure out the killer.
There’s not a lot of downtime in the movie for the characters to relax, and I’m personally ok with that. I’m not a fan of too many long, boring conversations in shows and movies anyways.
The traps, acting, and directing of the movie were also really good to me. The abrupt ending of the movie has a lot of potential in a sequel as long as the writers play their cards right.
If you’ve seen all the Saw movies, I do recommend you watch this one. There’s a lot of mixed reviews, but I really don’t think it’s as awful as some might say. It was able to keep my focus and attention the whole movie.
Overall 3.5/5 stars for me
