Rob Zombie's Halloween (and Halloween 2) are excellent re-boot's, paying proper homage to the original classics, but stepping up with more graphic details in the story and background. The first Halloween delves more into the dark psyche of the matter of the twisted and lonely soul of Michael Myers, and Halloween 2 into other-world psychotic and even demonic intervention. They are both dark and disturbing, and repeatedly shocking. The murder scenes are vivid, brutal, realistic, horrifying. It all adds up to excellent, Cult-classic horror films, I'd even venture to say it approaches masterpiece in their twisted and uneasy horrific genre's. Why 4 stars then?? I don't like Scout Taylor-Compton's portrayal of Laurie... unfortunately, to me, the heroine is annoying as heck. A different heroine and would have been 5 stars.
