Plot had a ton of holes and didn't make sense.
I didn't get the Mattel board members characters - they could have been left out entirely in my opinion. It didn't add to the plot and was just confusing.
The mother/daughter relationship was super fake and none of their 'issues' were resolved throughout the movie so I don't understand that plot line either. In the end they're just suddenly happy for no reason? What?
Why does Barbie hate Ken so much? I was really disheartening to see how that played out. I've read people saying it's because Ken is just an accessory to Barbie, but that's not how I ever envisioned Ken especially when I was a child playing with Barbies. In this movie she really hates him for no reason, and Ken and Barbie are an iconic couple so that was disappointing.
Plot for me totally unraveled when Barbie gives up and lies face down. There was no resolution to any of the issues presented in the film.
The ending to me was the worst part. To me, it implied the important thing about being human is going to the doctor - that makes no sense at all. Especially in the USA (where this is supposed to be based) where healthcare is so expensive and many of us can't even afford to see a doctor. I don't get why she even wanted to be human in the end, after the entire movie trying to be normal Barbie again she just suddenly changes her mind for no reason.
Cute clothes, music, scenery, etc. but I was really disappointed with the story presented in this movie. It would have been fine if the story made any sense or had any type of resolution in the end. I would have loved to see a movie about Barbie, Ken and all their friends (the majority of Barbie characters were left out of the film).
2 Stars just for the clothes, music and scenery. I would not watch it again.
