I just watched this movie after stumbling upon quotes, and maybe it held more meaning to me as a kid that grew up listening to The Rolling Stones and going to church every Sunday, but this movie DEEPLY affected me. It beautifully characterizes the idolization youth puts on music artists and celebrities and the extent they’d go to imitate them (or prove their love for them), as well as showing how all the prejudice from older generations can end up dictating a path rather than describing what it already was (Elias’s quote, “that’s the duality of rock and roll”). I absolutely adored the dialogue and the cryptic messages describing the path that they were going to take throughout the whole movie. I think it is an absolute must-watch, even if in the end it is just a thriller. The concepts and the execution of the film are fantastic.
