Literally watched half an hour of it and it really had me getting depressed, just hoping and waiting for the plot to actually do something. Nothing. It appears everything has become woke and politically correct. Just a poor re-hash of an absolutely outstanding first movie. The original top gun had a pace about it, the youth, the 80s, and everything that we loved about movie making of the 80s Hollywood timeline. It had everything-emotions, real dogfights, characters who you could relate to. This top gun - even maverick couldn’t relate to maverick. He’s older now. He was trying to be super cool and failing badly. This film had an awkward elderly nature to it - it should have been done far more smarter , perhaps pitting the oldies against the young ones and not making this all about Tom Cruise. The original top gun had a vitality , edginess, and an unknown. This one felt like a b roll drama going badly wrong.

Disney obviously got the green light from Lucasfilm to make sure no expense was spared in sets, lighting, special effects. Great stuff so far .....’aaaaaand then The story - atrocious. With tiny hints of the Mandalorians dark past and their warrior race. And that’s it. The main protagonist is basically sidelined for utterly comical side characters with zero development of their stories. 30 minutes to wrap up a story written on the back of a napkin. Really guys ? Try looking at the marvel MCU to see how to write a story. Hastily completed episodes quickly wrapping up the action was just so sad to see. The mandalorian had so much potential. A thrilling dark character and I wished so bad that it would continue in the spirit of the first episode. Instead it totally fell flat. 3 episodes were utterly horrible . Filler episodes with no real link to the Star Wars era. Love the premise and concept - execution some of the worst I have ever had the displeasure to see. I enjoyed the Phantom Menace over this. Come on guys.
