It’s 30 years since I first watched the film ‘Awakening ‘ and it is still incredibly moving . The movie is based on the research of Oliver Sacks who supported patients with life threatening brain illness, encephalitis. Robin Williams and Robert de Niro bring Sacks’ story to life in a simply outstanding movie.

I’m baffled by the negative reviews this movie has received in the media . The film presents the longings of an extremely shy, anxious, and isolated high-school student to be accepted by his peers . The story is very moving, and even the songs brought a tear to my eyes . It’s definitely worth a watch .
