"We are here because we did not believe them when they told us our rage was not ladylike. We did not believe them when they said our violence goes to far. We did not believe them when they said the hatred we feel for our enemies is not godlike. They say that to women like us because they know what happens when we are free, free to hate when we must, free to kill when we must, free to bring destruction when we must. That is our freedom. That is our prayer. No matter what they think of us after we grind them into dust. That is our love!"
I am in awe of this show really. It's a definite must watch, not only because its a great fantasy show but it's a great show about freedom and destiny, how to carve our own, the ways in which we are limited and the ways in which we allow others to limit us. It's about family and the complicated relationships within them, about love and how we love and how we let ourselves love. The ways in which our trauma shapes us turns us into someone we feared. There's so much in this show and it's shot well - I'd advise watching it on a screen with adjustable brightness some of the scenes are shot really dark - and the character arcs are mostly well written. Especially Hippolyta's that was a particularly satisfying arc.
I believe this is a must watch show.
