This show is what I would call "Trash Sci-Fi" and to be clear there is a place on my couch for watching these. I won't name them all but other sci-fi lovers will understand that sometimes what you want to see is something in the sci-fi/fantasy genre that is not well thought out but moderately entertaining. This is that kind of show. It falls squarely into just alright.
SPOILERS
Great sci-fi, even with time travel, makes sense. I can suspend believability in time travel but not one where there is no way that the loop makes any sense when the only way to create the loop is for the loop to pre-exist. If the machine is created in 2053 where did the child come from if the only way for him to be born is to go back in time to create the genetics to exist?
I don't care about the homosexual relationship except they got more air time on personal relationships than the other cops who also had personal lives and no offense but losing a child (Whiteman and Hassan) way worse than losing a great lay that you knew for a couple weeks but we only touch Whiteman's pain and at least he gets revenge before death by cop. I'm sorry but I believe a married gay man with a wife would have already figured out how to survive and choosing your friend with benefits over your child doesn't sell. Writer's are obviously not parents.
So holes in the timeline, holes in the build up, inability for any of the cops to investigate a crime.
Put that aside and you can have a couple drinks and veg out on the couch and be entertained but make sure your brain is disengaged.
For context, I love all the magic Christmas stories, with the predictable endings too but only from 12/1-12/25.
