I listened to the audio version of The Dutch House, performed by Tom Hanks. It was wonderfully and expertly read by Mr. Hanks, and I found myself back in my brother-sister twin relationship, I thought the book was authentic in its character development and explicably true to what occurs when children are brought up within two unhealthy, unhappy marriages. It is indeed life changing, and I thought Ann Patchett revealed her characters with a special understanding of what an unhappy marriage can wrought on children and their future lives when they experience no other positive example. This is the first Ann Patchett book I have 'read' and I am committed to reading her other works, especially if I can find others with such an excellent narrator as Tom Hanks.
