I wanted to like it, but ultimately it was a disappointment.
The whole "this is true except for the made-up parts" was probably supposed to be cute, but it left the viewer in limbo, not know what was true and what was not without doing some research. It's neither fish nor fowl.
The whole tone seemed to treat Anna as sort of a victim. She was a crook, out and out. Why they made her a hero is baffling.
I agree with others that Rachel Williams was unfairly portrayed. She got ripped off for $62,000 and was on the edge of real trouble, but she was portrayed as a money grubber.
Anna Chlumsky is difficult to watch. She was in Veep and she is in this. The character she portrayed was annoying enough to begin with, but she took it to a lower level.
I wish someone would do an actual documentary on Anna Delvey This was vaguely interesting but, as I said, neither a documentary or fiction.
