Very good movie one of the best ever in my opinion but it could not remotely stand up to maximum overdrive which is why I gave it only four stars maximum overdrive just has an unparalleled attention to detail, superb soundtrack, and absolutely fantastic fantastic acting skills that make you really scream MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE! If the dark crystal had all of this going for it it would instantly be better than classics such as citizen cane, Shawshank redemption, and of course maximum overdrive.
TLDR: maximum overdrive is best.
