I'm a life-long fan of Riordan, and I'm genuinely disappointed with this book.
I'm not going to say any homophobic nonsense, I myself am part of the LGBTQ+ community, but I just didn't like the book all that much.
I think the representation was done well. There was an ancient character who, at one point, had a scene you could obviously tell was just there to adhere to the "queer agenda", and that felt out of place more than it did pro-anything and was wholly unnecessary.
The book's pacing felt odd, some parts I felt myself wanting it to be done already, and others I wanted it to never end. I've always loved Nico as a character since he was introduced, and he's had such a great journey throughout the book's. I've also always loved Will, and unfortunately I can't help but feel the characters weren't understood or written as well as they were before. Now, I totally believe this is because of me disliking Marc Oshiro's writing style, but I'm still writing that in case anybody would like to know it. The whole book was pretty much filled with cliche's or was JUST fanservice, and it didn't feel like very much new content at all.
Overall, the whole thing felt very "fanfictiony", and while I'd reccomend if you're a fan of the series and want to finish it(like myself), just know it won't be that great or live up to your expectations.
(also, are we not going to talk about the cocoa puffs? that idea was just ridiculous and now I am upset that they will more than likely have to be in future installations of the series.)
